Specifying the sock
Fit and cuff decided before color
A sock specification starts with dimensions, not with the club palette. Foot length, cuff height and yarn thickness decide how the sock sits inside a shoe, and they have to be settled before artwork is discussed.
Give the size assortment as foot length ranges rather than general labels, and name the cuff height you want. Extra cushioning takes up space inside the shoe, so review it against the footwear your buyers actually use. Custom cricket socks are also worn under trousers and alongside pads, so the cuff needs checking with those layers rather than on its own.
Artwork then has to suit a knitted structure. Fine lettering and thin outlines distort once the sock is stretched over a foot, so supply a simplified version of the crest for small areas. GenXport reviews the mark on a worn sample rather than on flat artwork, and the approved sample becomes the reference for later runs.
