List the contents before the bag shape is fixed
A martial arts gear bag is specified from the inside out. What goes in it decides the compartment plan, the opening and the panel sizes.
A uniform only bag and a bag carrying gloves, pads and sparring gear need different layouts. Give the contents and their dimensions, then internal divisions, pocket count and opening type can be drawn. External measurements on their own do not describe usable space once dividers are added.
Carry format comes next. Hand carry, shoulder strap and backpack harness each change handle position, webbing placement and panel reinforcement. Keep ventilation openings separate from any water resistant requirement in the brief, and state the flat panel area you want kept clear for decoration, labels and hang tags.
