What the buyer specifies
Specify the short apart from the jersey
A short shares the kit identity but carries its own pattern, fabric weight and artwork scale. Treating it as an extension of the jersey is what causes fit problems at sampling.
Give rise, inseam, hip and leg opening measurements, plus the waistband construction you need: elastic, drawcord or both. GenXport grades the adult and youth runs from one approved fit sample, so proportions hold instead of only the leg length changing. State whether the brief includes pockets or an inner liner, because each is a separate quoted line.
Artwork has to be rescaled for a smaller surface. A crest, number or side panel graphic needs its own finished dimensions on the short, set clear of the waistband, hem and side seam. Send physical or numbered color references so fabric sourcing and color matching can tie the short to the jersey before the pre production sample.
Fabric decides coverage. Interlock, mesh and stretch knit constructions behave differently once the leg is in motion, so the family is confirmed during specification review and reviewed on the sample. Any lining requirement is specified at the same time rather than added after the artwork is approved.
